Host Guidelines - Let's Unify to Dilley

Right now, mothers and children are being held inside the Dilley detention center after being taken from their homes and stripped of their dignity. Families inside are reporting undrinkable water, rotten food, and children sinking into depression behind locked doors. Kids who should be in school are instead living in conditions no child should ever experience. The children at Dilley are being held far beyond the 20 days that is legally allowed.

Joining the caravan in your community is a powerful way to take action and say: we will not accept this.

As a captain, you’ll organize a caravan meet-up point—bringing people together in your community to join the Texas-wide caravan heading to Dilley, with the goal of arriving by 12PM CT. Together, you’ll help grow the public visibility and pressure needed to Shut Down Dilley. End Family Detention. Release our kids and families by Mother’s Day.

You won’t be doing this alone—we’ll support you every step of the way with promotion to help recruit attendees, safety guidance and training to ensure your event runs smoothly, and connection to the broader statewide caravan plan and routes so your meet-up is part of something bigger.

Okay!
The shorter and more descriptive, the better.
A hybrid event allows for both a physical location and a virtual link.
Virtual events do not require a location, but virtual events with a location will appear on the event campaign map. (Those without a location will appear in search results only.) At least a ZIP/postal code is required for map placement for virtual events.
Select the timezone in which your event will take place.
